BPMD Releases Metallic Cover of “We’re An American Band”

The wait is coming to an end! BPMD – featuring heavy metal icons Bobby Blitz (Overpowered) on vocals, drummer Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Son of Apollo), bassist Mark Menghi (Metal allegiance) and guitarist Phil Demmel (Violence, ex-Machine head) – are preparing to release their first full 70s rock cover album, American manufacturing, this Friday June 12th via Napalm Records. Today, the members of BPMD unveiled their third single, the loaded new version of Grand Funk Railroad’s classic anthem “We’re An American Band”.

Bassist Mark Menghi says of “We are an American band”:
“The objective of American manufacturing was, and is, to pay homage to some of the great music of the 70s, especially American music of the 70s. We love music from all over the world; England, Germany, Brazil, Canada, Australia, etc … but at the end of the day we are an American band, so it made sense to pay homage to one of the biggest American bands of the 70s by covering one of the most Great songs of this decade by the mighty Grand Funk… Since this song was originally written to be on tour, we remember the days on the road and how much we miss our fans! Touring is the lifeblood of most bands – we can’t wait to put on shows and play those BPMD tunes, and to see the music blossom again in a live setting.

Leader Bobby Blitz adds:
“’American Band’, in my opinion, was the icing on the cake of this project. The idea of American manufacturing, the 70s demanded it. The song was iconic then and has truly stood the test of time. The call and response between my voice and Phil’s guitar on the outro makes the track even more special.
